Welcome to Engineered Out of Office! I’m George, and this is a new space for me to put out my thoughts, things that I’m excited about, and talk about projects I’m working on. This blog itself came out of the desire to build something outside the confines of work; to create something for the sake of creating and having fun.
Not that work isn’t fun, but the grind can get monotonous. Sometimes you need a reminder of why you love doing what you’re doing. Effectively, a side project is the best cure for burnout1.
I understand that launching a blog in 2023 in a world of Substack newsletters, Twitter threads, and TikTok isn’t the most hip thing to do. Thus, I’m going to embrace all of those mediums (maybe not TikTok yet) and you can consume my content wherever it’s more convenient for you. Of course though I’d love for you to visit engineered.ooo and hopefully appreciate all the effort I put in making the website my own, but always, you do you.
What should you expect here? My goal is to share
- tips and workflows that make me happy in my every day2,
- cool apps and websites to try out,
- technologies and trends that I’m curious about,
- as well as side projects I’m working on.
For example, some things I’m keen to explore are: learning Rust, applying generative AI models together with speech synthesis, and making & shipping an iOS app.
At any rate, I hope the content you find here can help you even the tiniest bit and inspire you to keep making cool stuff.
